After years of litigation, legislation, public bickering and discussion, it appears the dispute between the NCAA and the University of North Dakota (“UND”) will finally come to a conclusion.  In a new agreement reached by the parties, the NCAA will allow UND to keep thousands of logos in the Ralph Engelstad Arena and the attached Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.  The removal of many of these logos would have been very costly to UND, because there were numerous brass medallions on chairs and a sketch on the hockey arena’s granite floor.  Additionally, the NCAA will allow UND to create a commemorative wall within the athletic complex depicting Sioux history.  However, UND will have to remove six signs that say “Home of the Fighting Sioux.”  With these changes, UND will be able to host NCAA championship events.
