Owens v. NCAA: Concussion Lawsuit No. 2

Last week, Derek Owens (a former Central Arkansas University student-athlete) and Alex Rucks (a former Northwestern University student-athlete) filed suit against the NCAA relating to its concussion rules and policies.  Specifically, the student-athletes argue the NCAA failed to establish a head injury screening system and failed to enforce safety procedures despite knowledge of the dangers of college football.  Owens and Rucks are represented by class action firm Hagens Berman who is noted for being lead counsel in Agnew v. NCAA.  The NCAA has responded to this lawsuit by stating this lawsuit is “merely a copycat” of the lawsuit filed by Adrian Arrington earlier in the month.
