It was recently reported by the Commercial Appeal that John Calipari, University of Memphis former head basketball coach, and Derrick Rose, University of Memphis former basketball star, settled a pre-litigation complaint set forth by University of Memphis season ticketholders. According to the settlement agreement, Calipari and Rose contributed $100,000.00 to resolve the dispute. The unknown season ticketholders were allegedly deceived into purchasing season tickets during the 2009-10 basketball season and making donations to the Tiger Scholarship Fund. Following the University of Memphis’ run to the Final Four, the NCAA Committee on Infractions vacated the run as a result of alleged academic misconduct by superstar Derrick Rose. Calipari also agreed to donate $232,000.00 to the University of Memphis scholarship fund. This amount corresponds with the bonus he received for the run to the Final Four.
