Robert Simon practices in the areas of bankruptcy, civil appeals, business litigation, and real estate. Mr. Simon's bankruptcy practice includes a broad range of debtor and creditor representation in cases under Chapter 11 and Chapter 7. His bankruptcy practice includes a wide array of litigation, including concerning cash collateral issues, the automatic stay, discharge and dischargeability, and voidable transfer actions. Mr. Simon also represents businesses in informal workouts with their creditors. His appellate practice includes appeals from both bankruptcy and civil district courts. Mr. Simon has successfully represented commercial creditors and debtors in multimillion-dollar bankruptcy proceedings and related contract and tort claims brought by or against clients. He has lectured on bankruptcy appellate issues, exemptions, and the defense of voidable transfer actions. Mr. Simon's representation of clients in bankruptcy matters encompasses many industries, including, for instance, representing clients in the bankruptices of multiple airlines (with one such representation resulting in a favorable outcome for creditors in a multi-million dollar adversary proceeding spanning two years in the bankruptcy of Kitty Hawk, Inc.), representing debtors holding significant real estate assets and representing the purchaser of a Major League Baseball franchise from a bankruptcy estate. Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Simon served as a briefing attorney to the Honorable John Ovard on the Texas Court of Appeals for the Fifth District of Texas. Practice Areas
