Jim Pritchard is an attorney with vast experience and expertise in property taxation. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from the University of Oklahoma and a Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree from the University of Texas. Since graduation from law school, Jim has been continuously involved in the property tax industry with success and experience in all matters of property taxation, including appraisal, valuation disputes, administration, collections, and enforcement.
For more than 30 years, Jim appraised, directed, and provided full legal support of property tax appraisals and administration as a principal in the firm of Pritchard & Abbott, Inc. and as President of Jim Pritchard & Company. His expertise extends beyond Texas borders to eight other states and three Native American Indian Tribes where he has provided legal counsel and consultation services to taxing authorities. He has also provided technical legal counsel services to the State of Alaska Attorney General in litigation involving state royalties from offshore oil leases.
Jim has also served as Assistant County Attorney for Travis County, Texas with the full responsibility for all property tax litigation in the county. He has also served as Director of Property Tax for Ron Wright, Tarrant County Tax Assessor-Collector. Mr. Pritchard leads the ad valorem tax law practice group of Barlow Garsek & Simon, L.L.P.
